Biopunk Blues is the seventh book in Austin Dragon’s Liquid Cool series. Like the rest of the books in this series, this is a fast read that catches you in the beginning and holds you until the end. As a stand-alone book, this tome works exceptionally well. There is not too much backstory that you are re-reading the previous books and not too little that you don’t know why the characters are doing what they are doing. As the former owner of a one-man detective agency, I like to see what authors do with their characters, especially those taking place in the future. The story continues the trials and tribulations that befall Cruz, a self-made street detective, and his wild cast of supporting characters. It may be reminiscent of old pulp fiction crime dramas, but the book is well edited and well proofed. The story is fast paced and has enough action sequences to hold your attention. The characters are well constructed, well thought out, and well defined. I was once told by an excellent author (Thank you, Matthew S. Cox) that a character is well written if you have empathy for him or her. I have definitely grown to care for the characters in this series. Even the minor pop-up characters show depth. The dialog is realistic and well written. There is no forced speech and the dialog is never used as a foil to move the story along.Austin Dragon is one of today’s up and coming authors. His cyperpunk books are a fun diversion from whatever may be plaguing (pun intended) your own hum drum life. Pick up Biopunk Blues, or any of the other numerous Liquid Cool Detective Agency books, you won’t regret it.

Cruz really stuck his foot in it this time. He’d been moping around since Wilford G. died. His wife and PJ decide he needs a unique case to get him out of his funk. Boy, did they screw up.With a world wide corporation after him, Cruz has to get really creative. This story is so convoluted you feel like you’re in a nautilis shell. It’s like living in a labyrinth. Greatest story yet.

Austin Dragon has done it again. His Carrictors in this unique world and detective crues and liquid cool agency does not disappoint. These stories are worth everyone’s reading. Teenager to seniors. No trash language . Witty dialogue. And excitement for all. Looking forward to more books involving these carrictors.

Poor Cruz is having a hard time – not only is Cruz Jnr growing up way too fast, but his pregnant wife is due to birth their second child at any time! As if that weren’t enough to drive him to distraction, as he has to become a more hands-on dad, but his iconic mentor Wilford G has gone to that great detective agency in the sky, (ie died), leaving Cruz bereft and wallowing in his own self-pitying misery. Finally rallying enough to listen to his bionic-armed PA/receptionist/office manager, (at Cruz’s Liquid Cool PI Agency) the volatile and temperamentally feisty Punch Judy, or ‘PJ’, Cruz takes on a new case, that turns out to involve, the WHO of Earth, bio-terrorists, thugs-for-hire, dead scientists and a deadly biohazard that’s been stolen from its lab etc etc – whew!! How will our hero cope?Multi-genre genius Austin Dragon delivers a fast-paced, funny-at-times (but deadly serious at others), cyberpunk space opera with his usual aplomb and literary skill, which is like no other. Buy your copy of Biopunk Blues by Austin Dragon today and fly away to a ‘what if…?’ infinity and beyond. You’ll love it!!

Book 7 of the Liquid Cool series does not disappoint. From the first page to the last, another nonstop thrill ride from a genius author. Peppered with many pop culture references (Whovians like myself will love it) this installment deals with the main chracter’s germaphobia and a secret government plot. If you have not read these books, what are you waiting for? Think Humphrey Bogart meets Myron Bolitar, set in a Blade Runner world. If that does not grab you, I don’t know what will.Full disclosure – I was provided an advance copy of this book by the author.

I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. It was my first in the series, #7, and is easily a stand alone book. The hero and cast of characters are nothing short of inventive, hilarious and smart! There are a few typos, my/by, and I think twice I had to reread a sentence to fit the proper word in. Otherwise there are no fantastical futuristic words to trip over that would disrupt the narrative you actually like the characters and their flaws. I’m going back to purchase and read the others now. This was a free book in return for an honest review.

It all starts with the loss of an arm, Liquid Cool continues his mission to save the world from bioterrorism and WHO. An exciting addition to the Liquid Cool series.
